As we close out the Old Testament, we find the prophet foretelling of Elijah coming again to return the hearts of the fathers to the children and hearts of the children to the father. Throughout the Bible we see a specific issue of sin permeating throughout the generation and the spiritual eyes of God’s people becoming closed to the true path of righteousness. Jesus is the ‘way’, but the heart needs to be fully aware that we are to walk as ‘children of God’ as we go. Many people have received Christ as their Savior, but struggle to walk in the spirit of adoption. Satan will continually attack this part of our walk and try to use shame to pull us into a false view of ourselves and keep us under a cover of darkness. This sin is a self condemning spirit called the orphan spirit, which quietly brings God’s children out of a place of sonship.
The word ‘children’ and the word ‘son’ are the same word in the bible. The reason to juxtapose the relationship between these words is to move onto a word with more breadth, which is sonship. Sonship is the quality, position, office, relation between and power you have as a child of God. This personal revelation is only found when we walk as children of God in the position sonship. Sonship was the office or position of power a princes and princesses would have in the Kingdom at the behest of their King.
Adam & Eve walked in sonship before their Father for a season. They were given dominion and made safe by following the boundaries set forth by their Father. This would of been a blissful time as they knew only the love of the Father. As we know, Adam and Eve initiated the orphan spirit when they came into agreement in the Garden of Eden over their betrayal of the will of the Father. He simply said everything here in my garden is for you except the fruit of one tree. It all started when the enemy created a shadow of doubt which eclipsed the light of God’s truth. In their confused mindset, the enemy won a war of words and superseded the Father’s will with his own.
Gal 3:26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
Gal 3:27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
Gal 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
Gal 3:29 And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.
Eating from the knowledge of good and evil closed their eyes and dulled their ears. In a pure and faultless state, they remained in God’s will by giving their ‘free will’ offering back to God through obedience. The Kingdom of Heaven is in power, and no greater power is there in the Kingdom, than will power. The word ‘will’ as a noun means joy. The joy of the Lord is our strength. When we don’t follow our Father’s will, our joy is the first thing to go. Our strength to hold the boundaries of the ‘Kingdom of Heaven’ in our lives are circumvented by the enemy as we allow our dominion over our mind, will and emotions to be diminished. This is the battle for the soul of God’s children.
Our Heavenly Father’s will can only be done by children of righteousness and not children of disobedience. Sin is the slave holder of those you do not follow the will of God. The word orphan means, ‘deprived of free status’. Therefore, Satin’s lie helped Adam & Eve strip themselves of their own free will status as they became slaves to sin.
All sin is subject to the law; a law that only the Son of God could fulfill. And fulfill means to ‘discharge a debt’. We see that when Christ came, He did not come to do away with the law, but to fulfill it. Law means a legal right. Christ fulfilled the law by legal right, because only He was Righteous. His righteousness was the witness to His testimony because He did one thing we all have failed, doing only the will of our Father. The Law is God’s handwriting of requirements to point us to righteousness and away from evil. It was intended to keep us safe, but we fell into sin when we doubted God’s word. So it stood to condemn us had it not been for God’s one true Son. Jesus now sits in full authority over the law by fulfilling it by following the will of His Father and taking our sin upon Himself.
When we find Jesus in travail in the Garden of Gethsemane, He asks that His cup would pass. He finishes with, “Not My will, but Your will be done.” He took His cup, which was the will of His Father. This is the same cup he offered His disciples in communion. This is our communion cup or cup of salvation if we so choose. The blood of Christ discharges our debt of sin and restores us to a position to walk as blameless children of God.
Jesus fullfilled the Law. The word fulfill means to ‘have wholly’ or to ‘discharge a debt’. Only the Blood of Christ can discharge a debt sown in sin under the law. And all sin is subject to the Law, and He who sits over the Law is it’s Judge. That’s why Christ said he came to fulfill the law and not to remove it. If He removed it, a fallen person would have no ‘Way’ back to the Father.
Rom 8:15 The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.”

Heirs with Christ
Rom 8:12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.
Rom 8:13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
Rom 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
Rom 8:15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
Rom 8:16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
Rom 8:17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
Remember, the blood of Able cried out from the ground. The ground is your heart and the garden of your soul. When you are saved there is another who is crying out from inside you. It’s the Blood of Yeshua upon your heart through the Spirit! His blood is the first “Father” or Abba, and your agreement is the second “Father”. Christ prayed from His cross , “Father, forgive them they know not what they do.” You are a son or daughter because His Blood bears witness through the Spirit in your heart when you invited Him in.
Your heart received an ear to hear. You only have that option because He fulfilled the law through righteousness. Remember, a child who has an ear to hear will always have eyes that see. That’s what faith is. It is impossible please God without walking in Sonship. This simple means we believe His words and that this belief in what He says will be accounted to us as Righteousness. Ear to hear and then an eye to see. That’s because Godly faith starts in the abstract and then arrives in the concrete. You can only testify to what you’ve seen and heard. This is faith that is pleasing to the Father.
The word ad and option = Adoption. Option is the “liberty of choosing” and ‘ad’ means the ‘direction toward something’. He chose us first by fulfilling the law. Law also means “straight”. Make straight the path of the Lord means to literally make the law the path of the Lord. That is why me must follow Him to the Cross to receive the fulfillment or discharge of our debt of sin. We do this daily we can stay seated in Him in heavenly places through His righteous and law fulfilling sacrifice.
By taking every thought captive to the mind of Christ, we see how we are to walk circumspectly and seek out our salvation with fear and trembling. This joy through following God’s will keeps our hearts in a place to hear what the Spirit says to us. This is our pleasing free will offering. To hear our Father and to obey. He only has the best options for you ahead if you trust Him. These options are for those who have come to the throne through the Spirit of Adoption to cry Abba, Father!
